Late War Torpedo Adjustments
While working on Team Kraken, it has come to my attention that some ships have "nerfed" torpedoes, in much the same way that about a dozen had the secondaries or tertiaries nerfed. There does seem to be a pattern to RB's "madness" though, which makes sense. Mainly, RB did not give range-2 torpedo attacks to early-war ships. He did give it to the Brits, who had no reported torpedo troubles at the start of the war. So, it seems to me that one way to improve this is to make late-war cards for the same ships or for sisters ships, with a later date.
Working on the list now. Mostly will be giving some ships a sister with range-2 torp attack, however making the card with a date later in the war. As with those to whom I added the missing gun lines, I did not raise the cost.
Netherlands -
I was researching on whether or not to raise Dutch Torpedoes, and may not do so. Early war DD's seem to have been "reduced" by RB, while late war DD's with the same load have better Torps. (Z-29, T-27 vs Z-20). However, he did NOT do this for the Brits or Poles. If WdW has 2x3 centerline mounts, she (and her sisters) deserve a better torpedo attack. If they are beam mounts, then no. Still trying to solve this, as most tables do not distinquish between the location of the mounts.
Soviet Union - DOING
Gromkiy has 2x3 centerline mounts. Will make sister: Grozniy.
Silnyi also had 2x3 centerline mounts, will make late-war sister: Slavnyi. Both will be 2/2/1.
Baku had only 4 centerline tubes, will not remake as it's already over-rated.
United Kingdom - DONE
I have looked into Brit/Aussue/NZ/Polish/Canadian DD's for torp attacks. I did not find any that seemed to be "nerfed". I found many to be over-statted, like Exeter that could only throw 3 torps to a side.
United States: - DOING
Porter class: Built with 8 centerline tubes, should be 2/2/1 early war. Selfridge is candidate.
Late war versions had 0 torps and all 5/28's were DP, with extra AA mounts. (AA6, 1945, no torps). Winslow is candidate.
Fletcher class had 10 centerline tubes, should be 2/2/1. The Sullivans will be made (1943, AA Specialist).
Germany - DONE
German DD's with 1939 as their year do not have range-2 torps, yet others with a later year do. I have made 2 late-war cards for Z14 and Z15 with the better torp lines and other SA's. Here they are, I left their cost the same, as they are only available in 1942. I was going tol do the same for the 3 German CL's that survived the war, making late-war cards for them with the correct torpedo line: Koln, Leipzig and Nurnberg. However, they actually removed half the torpedo mounts so I won't do that. Yet, the Koln has a very interesting card you can find in another section!
Italy - DOING
Ascari's (Camicia Nere) class had 2x3 centerline mounts, deserving better. Legionario will be sister. (2/2/1)
Japan - DONE
Some late-war Fubuki's had their long-lances, and Brigs made a great card for them. Yeah!
Romania - DONE
Regina Maria has 2/2 for her 2x3 centerline torp mounts. Not sure why she was not given 2/1, or 2/2/1. Not planning to bother.
Sweden - DONE
It appears to be that Goteborg had 2x3 centerline torpedo mounts, which means she could fire 6 torps in an attack. I'll made a late-war sister. It was a class of 6, so here's the Malmo!
