Recently I picked up a used game called Wreckage from FFG for just $5 plus shipping. I've played it a few times with a couple of friends and actually quite like it. Essentially the players move a 2D counter representing a car around with a range ruler to control speed and turn angles. Cars have pre-selected weapons attached, and damage cards are drawn: some blank, some with damage points, some with critical damage to the enemy.
It's a fairly straight-forward, beer & pretzels type game. I really like it; it's fast-moving and a lot of fun. In the past I've taken a look at Car Wars and some other car combat type games, and thought they were too bogged down in detail and too slow for what should be a very fast-paced game.
If you enjoy blowing up cars on a table you should really try this game out - AUTO-DESTRUCT-O-RAMA! It is brought to you by our very own Steve Bean, he used to haunt around these parts, mostly on the other boards, not sure if he made it here. Anyway, back to the topic at hand, check out the link and give a go...
AUTO-DESTRUCT-O-RAMA! is an easy-to-learn, fast-paced, quick-playing, d6-based tabletop miniatures car combat game inspired by films like Death Race. AUTO-DESTRUCT-O-RAMA!'s streamlined rules allow as many as 10 players to face off on the tabletop without slowing down the action.
