I bought a half-dozen boosters from a British source.
Bless the Royal Mail, which delivered the boxful across the Atlantic just four days after it was mailed. Rule Britannia!
There was one North Africa booster and five 1939-1945 boosters.
I opened the North Africa booster first:
1. Grant I (Have never had this one!)
2. Panzerspahwagen P204 (I have plenty of this one.)
3. Greek Officer (Why is this considered Uncommon?)
4. Bren Machine Gunner (Again, plenty of this one.)
5. 7.5 cm LelG18 (Again, I have enough).
All the excitement of this booster was in one mini. Admittedly, it is one cool mini.
More to come later....
–––––––––––
OK, today is "later".
I cracked open the first of the 1939-1945 boosters.
1. Bazooka (indeed, common)
2. 82mmPM-37 Mortar (ditto, very common)
3. SS-Haupsturmfuhrer (A worthy officer)
4. Sd Kfz 251 (Troop transport always a winner)
5. Cromwell IV (I have a few, but it was valuable in the post-Normandy actions)
All in all, not an auspicious beginning. I already have a mittful of Cromwells, but it's a good-looking mini.
–––––––––
I was up at the crack of dawn (upcoming MD appointment) so I cracked a booster, the second of the 1939-1945 boxes.
1. Arisaka Rifle (I really like these guys)
2. MAS 7.5mm Rifle (I actually have plenty of these guys.)
3. SNLF Captain (Plenty of officers, too)
4. Humber Scout Car (Fast-moving armour always usable)
5. Sturmpanzer IV Brummbar (This looks awesome whenever deployed)
I'm happy with the Brummbar, and the Humber and Arisaka are OK, but this is not really a pulse-pounding pull. I wonder if this 1939-1945 purchase was the best way to go...
_____________
So, amidst doing my income taxes, a break to break open another booster, the third in the series of 1939-1945 boxes.
1. SMLE No. 4 Rifle (You can never have enough PBI)
2. Panzerfaust 30 (You can have enough panzerfaust)
3. Eagle-Eyed NCO (A very common Uncommon, but I like the Canucks, so....)
4. Type 95 Ha-Go (Totally happy to see this as it will be used against the Soviets)
5. M18 GMC (I only had one of these, and I can see how two would be good on a table)
Feeling better after this pull, but one from each nation? Someone shuffled the deck well before loading this booster.
__ _ _ _ _ ___ ___
OK, it's Monday and there's nothing like busting a booster to beat the Monday blahs.
1. Canadian Infantrymen (Did I mention earlier that I never turn down a Canuck?)
2. Fucile Modello 1891 (Not needing any more Italians, but you always need infantry.)
3. ZIS-2 57mm Model 1943 (As much as I acknowledge the value of arty, I don't like this one)
4. M4A1 Sherman (Armour! Need we say more?)
5. M4A3 (105) Sherman (It's armour, all right, but the Cdns pretty much used the 75 mm and the 17-pdr, so the 105 is just a curiosity for me. It will become trade bait.)
So, the Monday blahs were not hugely relieved by this booster. With one left, I might be tempted to crack it sooner than later...
–––––––––––––––––
We hit the mid-week with many things on the agenda, but still a moment to crack the last in the series of six boosters:
1. Type 89 Mortar (Not really one I intend to keep)
2. SMLE No. 4 Rifle (Well, I did say I like the PBI)
3. MG 42 Machine-Gun Team (Another Uncommon that seems Common enough)
4. T-70 Model 1942 (I always welcome armour, although this one is not likely to see much table time.)
5. KV-1 (Holy smokes and happy days. I have been looking for one of these for some time.)
I hate sounding "meh" about the overall results of this booster purchase, but aside from the Grant, the KV-1, the Ha-Go, the Brummbar and the M18, there wasn't anything in this lot that set off fireworks. I am inoculated against further AAM booster purchases for the near future. (But a case of Angels 20 came in this week, and that will satisfy a different itch! See the details soon in the AAAF section.)
