Hey guys,
I thought Id try and get everyone talking a bit about modelling again, so maybe we should kick things off by sharing what our current projects are, so whats everyone workin on?
At Danaussie's Shipyards:
HMS Ark Royal is getting an overhaul, arguably one of my oldest miniatures in my collection that had been repainted about 3 times, so I have soaked her in warm soapy water and then took an old tooth-brush to her removed all the old paintwork, primed her and repainted her once more. Pretty happy with the project so far but am now going through the painstaking process of pin-vising all the portholes (she got lots). I have also modified her somewhat to make her stand out a bit, so I have added some Anti-Torpedo Blisters and added a crane to the sculpt.
I have decided against basing, mainly because the whole process takes to long and adds expense that I really cant afford (even though it looks better), so I'm in the process of removing the few miniatures I had based and fixing those up, these included HMS Vanguard, HMAS Sydney, HMAS Canberra and HMS Sheffield, and of course Ark Royal. All were removed successfully with the exception of Vanguard which broke (much cursing), I managed to repair her and bolstered her by adding some plastic underneath her, a little bit of touch up painting and she is just like new. The other based models I had were all Mongoose Publishing's Victory at Sea miniatures which will be up for sale soon.
Other than that I'm painting a HMS Lion from Shapeways in a colour scheme of my own creation which I have only done once before the IJN Ise I did for Bill a while ago, that is turning out ok too but haven't finished it yet, promise to get some pics up as soon as I get a little further along with these projects guys.
What you guys workin on?
Dan
