So after playing a couple games, I noticed that sometimes the altitude numbers on the bases can be hard to read. I was thinking of painting the numbers to improve visibility and possibly distinguish between identical planes. Has anyone tried this? What kind of paint did you use?
I use simple Ceramcoat acrylic paint in a limited number of colours: black for German/Italy, red for Japan, blue for U.K./U.S., light blue for France and green for "other" nations. Just fill in the number cavity with the paint of your choice, and wipe away the excess with a paper towel. The paint should remain in the number cavity and dry. If there is some dried paint that spilled beyond the walls of the number cavity, you can scrape it off with a bit of plastic card or your finger nail, once it is dry. It's pretty basic, and pretty effective.
Those who don't remember their history are bound to do something or other...
I've got the dicedocks that can hold 2 dice. One to record altitude, the other for damage. Nowadays, I attach smoke markers to the aircraft wings in order to record damage, so only 1 die is used in the dicedock.
I used acrylic modelling paint to fill in the lines and numbers in three coats, a base of white and two of red. Be sure to wipe excess off of the plate before it dries. Looks really clean and shows up easily.
