If an aircraft is aborted, and thus removed from play, it seems that this commander is removed from play as well - what does that mean in regards to the surprise raid rule? Do those ships still suffer the penalty even if the commander is no longer in play? And, for the attack planning rule, how would that interact with SA’s like “slip away,” where if an attack scores exactly the amount of vital armor, there’s a chance for the defending unit not to be destroyed?

Ahh, I guess that’s my fault - my own house rule has just been to take an aborted aircraft off the board, just to declutter the space. I don’t have a lot of the original tokens anymore so it’s also a memory aid. It my mind “aborted” means “off the board,” but I guess that isn’t actually the case lol.

(REQUIRED)Commander: Your fleet may include one Commander. This unit is attached to a friendly ship in the deployment phase. If that ship is destroyed or removed from the map, this unit is removed from play.
(UNIT)SPECIAL WEAPONS: When the Squadron this commander is attached to, makes a bomb attack, each 6 counts as 3 successes instead of 2.
(FLEET)SURPRISE RAID: If you roll 10 or higher on your initiative roll, choose two enemy Ships. Those Ships roll one less attack die when making Antiair attacks this turn.
(BONUS)ELITE SQUADRON: The Squadron this commander is attached to has +2 to vital armour up to a maximum of 9.

new suggested Unit specific ability which emulated the skip bomb SA, as representative of the special armourpiercing shell the Kate's dropped on battleship row(modified battleship shells)
