I've estimated my collection at around 750 pieces, almost all of which are major power (US, Britain/Commonwealth, USSR, Germany, Japan) units. I've been especially interested in playing Japan lately.
I did a card-count in some idle moments and came up with: 469 Axis and 653 Allies, for a total of 1,122. The largest nation: Germany at 302 units (no surprise). The largest Allied nation: USSR, at 149. That did surprise me, as I only collect Russians to play the Finns and the Japanese. I only have 49 Finns and 100 Japanese, so I hardly need 149 Soviets. How did I wind up with so many? If you lump the Commonwealth nations together (U.K., Canada, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa), the total is: 251. The Canucks are the largest force after the U.K. with 69 units. Smallest nation: Greece, at 2 units. I never intended to collect the Greeks, but wound up with a couple. Now, of course, I want a few more.
Those who don't remember their history are bound to do something or other...
When I got into this game, I was mainly wanting the 5 countries from the boardgame. As I really got into it, I went for more countries from both sides, but when I saw a review on the wiki about the Greeks & I had to have some.....they are lotsa fun once you get their SA "Fury" going, add a Greek officer & "Tides of War" and you get 3 pt. SS Panzergrenadiers.......10/8 AI attacks are a shock to an enemy.....woohoo
Recently I purchased a couple extra units to help fill out some of the holes in my collection. Along with about 50 custom figures, I now have about 3470 figures in my collection. There are about three dozen more figures I'd like to acquire before I feel my collection would be complete. Most of these are the expensive rares that everyone wants such as the 39-45 IS Model 44, King Tiger & M4A3(105) Sherman. As time (and money!) permits, I find them on Ebay and get them.
After a few recent buys, mine is now just over 1400 pieces, my earlier estimate was low by about 100+, but the 1400 is much closer to actual amount. No Brixia's or PTRD- ATR's were in the recent buys, just good stuff, mainly vehicles.
