We can if you'd like. I'm not exactly the greatest fan of the long-range rules for a number of reasons but I'd be open to giving them a try.

There are two custom rules for long-distance engagements that I would really like to try:
1. Carrier-based planes must rearm for 1 turn after a sortie (land-airbase aircraft must rearm for 2 turns). 2. If a carrier takes hull damage with aircraft onboard, roll for each aircraft. On a 5+, it is destroyed. For each aircraft that is destroyed, roll again. On a 5+ the carrier takes 1 additional hull damage. Repeat until no hull damage is rolled, no aircraft remain, or the carrier is sunk.
I think these add a lot of strategic depth without overcomplicating the game, but I am not sure how they would affect balance of play.

Here is my deployment. FYI I'm going to refer to the second Shokaku as Zuikaku.
F1: Shokaku and Tone E1: Zuikaku and Haguro G1: Soryu and Chikuma D1: Hiryu and Haguro 2 (I'll call this Myoko, if it doesn't confuse you) C1: S1 and S2

One other thing:
I'd like to propose a change to the custom rules, if that's alright (they're not mine). I think it would make sense for the Japanese carriers to take an extra point of hull damage on a 3+ (instead of 5+), given how vulnerable they were historically due to haphazard damage control practices/doctrine.

I think you take the highest initiative value, then add the flotilla leader bonus.
