ALTERNATE PAYLOAD 5: Once per game, this unit can make a 5-dice Bomb attack instead of a Torpedo attack during your Air Attack step.
DETERMINED ATTACK: Whenever this unit is aborted by a Ship's Antiair attack, you may roll a die. On a 1, destroy this unit. On a 4 or higher, this unit can make either a Bomb attack or a Torpedo attack during the Air Attack phase. You get -1 on each attack die for that attack, or roll one less attack die for that Torpedo attack.
Fleet Air Arm Overstack - A UK Carrier with a basing capacity of 3 or fewer can base one additional Aircraft that has this ability.
Valiant - in the air attack step. For each friendly aborted or destroy aircraft in its sector this unit gains +1 armour this turn. This units armour cannot exceed its vital armour

ELAN: The first time this unit would be destroyed, roll a die. On a 5 or higher abort this unit instead.
Fleet Air Arm Overstack - A UK Carrier with a basing capacity of 3 or fewer can base one additional Aircraft that has this ability.
Defiant: If this unit is destroyed by a ships anti-air attack, roll a die. On 6 that ship takes 2 hull points of danage. Torpedo defence works against this damage.
I just noticed i collated a onsensical elite propodal. As its got determined attack but no offical bomb attack as some of the latfsr proposals of that line tried to save cost with alternate payload
This is never going to get an all round vote but this last option looks better than the previous couple. At the moment I'm liking the Tarpon a lot more but that's because it's looking more standard. Having to think outside the box with this is obviously going the opposite way a little. I've always thought Elan should have been kept for french units etc. the word didn't look right on this, even if the ability wasn't bad. With Defiant I had visions of a destroyer or an already hit cruiser killing this, rolling a six, then sinking itself! I can see what surprise attack is aiming for, it will just need to be kept track of every turn. The Overstack is obviously purely a gaming aspect, theoretically its a lot harder to convincingly find that carrier space compared to a land overstack.

Given the lower unit sizes for FAA attack squadrins relative to the US, the stacking thing males a bit of sense but it does make the overall attack weaker
The 1-di torpedo attack feels a little bad with this Version, but I really like the extra stacking ability (standard WotC squadron scale is 25 aircraft, but Bismarck was crippled by a flight of 15 Swordfish) Also Defiant is a lot of fun—a defender will have to pause a moment for allocating their AA attacks.
As much as we've worked on this unit, I would be glad to adopt the Veteran Swordfish as flak laid out above.
