Completed in 1940. Z24 was first deployed to Norway where she was frequently in combat with allied convoys to the USSR. She was transferred to France and operated in support of raiders and blockade runners. Extracting a heavy toll on allied aircraft during this period. In 1944, she was damaged in june's Battle of Ushant and twice more attacked by allied aircraft. The second on 24 August resulted in her sinking.
