COMMANDER: Your fleet may include one Commander. This unit is attached to a friendly ship in the deployment phase. If that ship is destroyed or removed from the map, this unit is destroyed.
NEAR MISS: The first time an attack would damage or destroy the unit THIS COMMANDER IS ATTACHED TO, roll a die. On a 4 or higher that attack has no effect instead.
AGGRESSIVE TACTICS: Friendly Cruisers and Destroyers adjacent to this Ship roll one extra attack die when making Gunnery and Torpedo attacks if no other friendly Ships are in their sectors.


Karel Doorman received his first commission in 1906 and was among the first of the Dutch naval aviators. Injuries sustained in a plane crash ended his flying career. However the skills learned would after many other roles see him appointed Commander of Naval Aviation in the Dutch East Indies in 1938. Prior promotion to Rear-Admiral in 1940 and taking command of the Dutch naval squadron shortly there after. Which would be the core if the shirt lived and ill fated ABDA command. As Japanese forces surged southwards, Doorman and the allies tried to block them with a series of encounters leading up to the battle of the Java sea'. ABDA Flagship De Ruyter was hit by a long lance torpedo and the admiral went down with his ship.

So how do you word the Commander connection? "attached to the Ship this Commander is attached to" or something like that?

You read my mind. Making them a plural does the trick when it will work. It is basically a "fleet card" anyway.

Otherwise we need to come up with something else IMO.
