I ordered three Angels 20 booster packs to start to build up my air fleet. They just got delivered and I thought that I'd jump on this unboxing craze that seems to taken hold of the forum. Any guesses to what I got? Favorites? Units you despise?
Let's see, 9 planes: you'll get one or two planes you really like and want, a few that you already have and are okay, and a good two or three common duplicates that you could easily do without!
Technically, no Rare, Uncommon or Common, but in reality, all the starters but the Lightning can turn up in boosters, so there can be a lot of Wildcats, Oscars, or Zero Escorts that turn up, so I would judge them as "Common." Everyone seems to want Sturmoviks, Stukas, either Corsair (Navy or Marine), the P-51D Mustang, the Brewster Ace or Buffalo, so I would consider them as "Rares". And the rest, I guess, Uncommon. I do know it took me a loooongggg time to get a second Afrika Korps Ace, so I might consider that one a Rare, but then, I got five Stukas, so how rare is that? With boosters, it's the luck of the draw.
Those who don't remember their history are bound to do something or other...
I opened one box last night, and got a Bf109E Ace (good solid plane, had one from the starter), a MS 406 Rookie (like the paint scheme but it stats look like cannon fodder) and a Bf109G Ace which looks like a beast.

Those are Bandits High planes, while this unboxing is about Angels packs. Having said that, the rare Germans are among the most elusive - to me that is :/
The Bf109G Ace draw is indeed very nice and falls in the "Rare" category. Pulled well!
The French planes are good when matched up against equal opponents and can be a fun build flight. You do need the French ace though
Regarding rare status, IMO- based on distribution: all the starter planes are considered commons, the unique/special planes from the two starter sets are rare and everything else is uncommon.
Of course there are some notable exceptions like the Stuka, Corsair, and Sturmavik and also many ace pilots. This is due to demand rather than unit distribution.
Bf109E Wingman, K--61 Tony (looks interesting), Expeditionary C.200 Saetta, Navy F4F-3 Wildcat (looks nice and sturdy), P-51B Ace, and P-51C Escort. My personal favorite WW2 fighter is the P-51D but both of these Mustangs look good. And they both came out of the same box.
