It's the only unit I'm willing to argue over. We've got an unbroken line of US carriers from CV-2 to CV-12 except for the Fighting Lady, and it's the only capital ship-turned-museum left out of the American deck.
You can nominate as many units for as many nations as you like. This whole list will be considered by the Team G development squad in the deck composition process.
Its worth considering however that the parameters for selection are. Nothing less than the weakest, or more than the strongest.
Units that will be rejected on this basis are along the lines of: .... the p-47, ...
I've been off the Forum for like, 2 years, so I may have missed something, but what is the objection the P-47? A plane that entered service in late 1942 (OK, call it 1943 to avoid a month of power creep like the Avenger or Essex), with of 15,000 copies produced. I get it, it was a good plane, but looking at you Mustang, Corsair, Me-262. I got to believe a reasonable P-47 card can be done with "breaking the game". The French could certainly use it.
I understand the deck list ship has sailed, but why the "ban-hammer" on the P-47? Please don't tell me it is because it never flew over a puddle of water.
Does anybody really think it was so superior to the P-51, F4U, or Me-262 to break the game? If it was that bad ass, why in the world did the allies build anything else?
I don't think there is any rational reason at all to exclude it. Existing units bracket it's capabilities, and it opens opportunities for allies to have competitive aircraft that actually existed in their land-based air forces. I've never understood the anxiety surrounding one of the most common aircraft of WWII. If we can have a Me262, multiple versions of the Corsair, and superfighters galore, including some that barely existed in squadron strength in there respective air forces, surely we can figure out how to make a plane that was introduced in 1942/43 and was produced in some of the largest numbers of any aircraft in the war???
An argument could be made to make it's vital incredibly high (which is what all this ducking and dodging appears to be about), but I'm not sure it matters. In all the games I've played with Vital 9 fighters, I almost never see them get shot down. Vital Armor 9 + a "toughness" SA, but an otherwise bland 8-9AA land based fighter with some kind of bomb ability seems far from earth shattering compared to the Corsairs.
BTW, I've never really had any urgency to see the P-47 for the US. It's more about making a really good late war fighter available to the allies.
A U-Boat with a SA Pillenwerfer or Sieglinde that allows the sub to move 1 unit away from a surface ship The elusive quarry could cover this but, infiltrator is the only placement SA however this would be a displacement or avoidance SA
not the format for suggestion but a different SA without unit
