The italian project with the most thought seems to be the Bonfigetti. 15k tons and a projected airgroup of 42.
The aircraft indicated are very slow. In the area of the walrus. One is the antevendamt of the cr42 falco. So perhaps falco operations and a fly-off strike/carrier detachment combination. We could also add the IMAn Ro.50 that was the italian spotter plane fitted historically as a +1 slot
Good rare slot for Italy. I think Brigman has done a CV card of Bonfigetti? If it goes ahead we can take look at his for ideas.
Royal Navy, does anyone want to finish off the QE Class or have another R Class battleship? I'm not really keen on an operational battleship. As for light cruisers, I am a Town Class fan and pulled out all those in my collection.
HMS Sheffield - WOTC HMS Manchester - Seas Ablaze HMS Birmingham - Brigman HMS Belfast - WOTC HMS Edinburgh - Sea Gods
On the old site in the Repaint Reference section from jfkziegler has cards of them
Erwin Rommel - "Give me American supply lines, British planes, German officers and Canadian troops, and I can take over the world".
One thing ive thought would be a positive option would be to have a internal starter within a deck. Heres two examples that roughly fit within the current picks.
As "starter cards" these cards would have a top view image of the ship on the reverse. So they can be both card and mini.
Hellcat Mk I F/B / Zero A6M5 Bakusen (f/b) USS Hornet (Santa Cruz) / Operational IJN Fleet carrier USS pensacola, mogami USS porter, Natori Ijn destroyer
HMS Warspite/ italian operational? C-Class cruiser/ captain romani class Hms mohawk / Lubiana or Sebenico or Lion/Fr21 RFA Brown Ranger / Hms anthony or hms defender/Cassiopia (sank a brit destroyer x2 her size and survived)or calliope (6 aircraft shotdown in multiple actions) or circe (4 submarines sunk)
Im okay with moving forward with another project if theres support
Maybe we should start a separate topic for this because I have thoughts and I bet others do too. I love the idea of a starter deck assuming we have someone who can make the top views. I feel like it should be separate from a deck like we have just made. I envision us picking two or three relatively balanced battles, a Pacific carrier battle and a Mediterranean surface battle, maybe a convoy battle too. All of the units for x or y battle will be operational for example Coral Sea Shokaku/Coral Sea Yorktown, Battle of the Atlantic Graf Spee/Battle of the Atlantic Cumberland, plus Neutral merchant vessel.
I think having a more accessible way for new people to enter the game is plenty of gain and should be a separate from another expansion deck. Either way I love that you brought it up and I'd love to hear what other people think.
I think a playable fleet that you can give away to people to entice them to play. Either as a print off or "proper cards" is a good way to entice a trickle of new blood in or simply to give if youve got someone you already play other games with so they might want to try it out.
I would love this. I'm new to the game and trying to get people into the game too. But with so many choices its analysis paralysis. I feel like a 100 and 200 point starter decks would be a good start. Maybe even provide a strategy cheat sheet on how to maximize the intended synergies.
