Ise is one that gets neglected by me. Either I go really big with the Yamato or Masashi or sorta big with Nagato or small with the battlecruisers. Medium usually gets me removed from the board quickly.

Guessing Yamashiro and Fuso join that group too?
The man who gets beat down isn't the loser. The guy who can't tough it out to the end, he's the one who loses.
I think the most fun way to play WaS is to randomly select a sizable portion of your fleet. That way you usually get the chance to play some of the sub-optimal pieces of your collection. Works best in conjuction with some sort of OOB format. So, for a 200 point game you might draw one capital ship, one cruiser/escortCV, two destroyers and one or two support units (subs, planes, TBs). Then you fill the rest of your points based on your opponent´s random units. This way you get a bit of scouting/countering aspect into the building phase, not just building completely blind which sometimes leads to min-maxing.
Adding to America's first world problem status, the TBD Devastator. I think I've used mine all of once, because I wanted and ASW plane and was too cheap to use an Avenger. It failed at that and now just languishes in the box.

Funny thing is, TBD would be a pretty good ASW option for the Axis.
Yes, it would, especially the Western Axis like the Germans and Italians. It's just ever so cheaper than the Fi167, slightly more durable than the Kondor/Sea Dragon/Airone, and doesn't compete for other roles like the Ju-88 (though I can definitely see some use with the Ar-196 in Deck 6)

I really like the TBD Devastator but yeah they certainly lack when in comes to torpedoes. I even created a custom card honoring Commander Waldron that gives buffs to TBDs in play.

I started doing that with my games and sometimes posting it on my IG.
Has made things more lively

That does sound pretty neat.
Maybe if I can convince a few people to play in person with me once I move, I'll give it a shot

Cap 1s fall into the trap of being a strategic asset in a tactical game. If you think about it, W@S is more Battle off Samar than Leyte Gulf. Sure you could play a leyte game but you dont get the manouvering aspect of the battle, ie Hasley/tf34 chasing the decoy fleet exposing taffy 3. But you do get a good sense of the clashes between taffy and center force.
The units on the shelf are all of them at the momemt. I cant brain properly to play.
If i have to pick a single unit, uss wasp. The mini is gorgeous but its just not in any of the scenarios, fleets or set ups i typically played
