So I have been very inactive in this game for the past 3 years but once again I’m cycling back to sea and my interest in the game is picking up.
With that said, I have used discord a lot in the past 3 years and it works pretty much the same as this forum does BUT it offers “Voice” so now you can have your discussions over in matter of minutes vice days, weeks, years. Also it has plenty channels that you can make discussion threads. Heck it even allows you to do a game online because you can use video.
Thoughts???
I’m getting it setup now anyways for my use but if you want to join it just message me and I’ll let you know the details and whatnot.
My son and I have used Discord to video call and text for a couple of years now. It seems to work very reliably although I find the concept of setting up "servers" still rather confusing. I am not much of an online gamer, but I do recommend Discord to those of you that might want to try.

I played against Scheerluck in a 100 pt game allied vs Italy.
Let’s just say he kicked my butt and I got a lot of growing pains to get back to where I was 3 years ago.
We used wottactic.com and it works wonders for real time updates with both people being able to make edits at the same time. Our game took 1 hour and that is from setup to complete fleet destruction.
I hope this show promise to others and hopefully another way to play and get your W@S desire back.
Locally we've kept up our D&D sessions with a combination of Discord, Roll20 and even Facebook messenger. All work and some people have preferences.
We do exclusively use Roll20 for the ability to move maps and icons around. It even has a dice roller. While you can "program" some macros, its very tabletop like where you have to look and count your hits and mark em. Or at least I haven't become an expert use.
It wouldn't be even as detailed or complicated as trying to play on Vassal but it would work.
