My grandfather was a crew member (radio operator) on board of a B-25 Mitchell during and after WW II and when I was a kid he sometimes told me stories about the war. One of these stories is that they only on rare occasions dropped their bomb load, and that far more often they made a strafing attack, which could be rather devastating with a B25. So I made an "expert strafer" card for the B25.
In total the Dutch airforce had about 300 B25's in service during and after the war. During the war the Mitchels operated in the Pacific. The sea transport between the many islands was of major importance for the Japanese. Attacking the tranports with their forward firing (strafing) guns and/or bombing them was an important mission for the Allies. In the National Dutch Military Museum in Soest has a Dutch B-25 Mitchell is on display (see photo's).
