Hey y'all, it's been a while since I've been on the forum. Good to see it's still going. I was curious how many folks out there have successfully collected all the minis. Ive made a spreadsheet of every mini I have and which I'm missing. I'm just 26 shy of the full 12mm minis and around double or triple that for the 15mm. As time goes on, it gets harder and harder to actually locate copies of certain minis. I'm a stickler for having the cards in mint condition and the authentic minis, which makes it harder, but shy of buying folks collections outright, anyone have suggestions on getting the rest?
I only collect v2 (15mm) of vehicles, infantry and aircrafts. And only some nations. Im not interested in v1 vehicles. Russians doesnt like me. With those preriquisites: France completed, USA completed, UK (only Bedford missed) GERMANY completed, ITALY completed, JAPAN completed. Some minors completed too.

That's awesome! I'd offer to trade, but I've only got one Bedford. How many minis total did it take to reach that? I'm up to 1300, with roughly a 50/50 between 12 and 15mm
I never tried to make complete sets either. I tried to build the Big 5 from the original board game & ended up with the Main 6 after a member of the previous board sold out his collection. I have since added some minors for both sides & tried to make all the countries at least somewhat competitive & have more or less succeeded in that. I play the game for fun mainly, sometimes to recreate history or particular battles & at times to change history, even if only on the gaming table... Enjoy it Always however you collect, it is a fun game!
Admittedly, there are minis just not really worth collecting the several different, yet identical versions of (MG42, fallschirmjager), but part of the fun for me over the years, especially when I was a kid, was to open up a bunch of boosters and check off the boxes on the little sheets that came in the box. I guess that's what's set me on that path
My first idea was ITA vs USA UK. But discovered Germans. A friend of mine put Soviets in the table. Next, France for Early War and the last one Japan for Pacific theater. Open up boosters was not the best for me, i buyed the exact miniatures for my army or lots.
Well thanks to triggermike and Stalker6, I'm just 10 minis shy of a full V1 collection. If anyone else has some for sale or trade, I'm looking for the following:
I have at least 1 of every unit in all three lines.
Any doubles of the above you're looking to sell? I actually stumbled across an ebay seller with some for sale, took care of most of the above. I am just needing the Chi Ro and IL-10
Congrats on approaching the complete collection! I came VERY late to the land game (like only started six months ago late) but I found some great deals from the folks on this board to help beef up my collection. I also searched eBay for some reasonable (at 2020 prices) booster packs that were fun to open and get some units that I wouldn't have otherwise sought out.
My strategy for collecting so far has been to get a working army for Germany/Italy/Japan and USA/UK/USSR, and then make some specific scenarios (like Poland 1939 or France 1940). Admittedly the Poland scenario was only 60 points on each side because there aren't that many unique Polish units! One thing I really appreciate about the land game is that WotC made enough unique units that you can make almost any historical scenario.
Agreed! I find Operation Barbarossa or Invasion of France scenarios most interesting. Historically, watching Germany use makeshift weapons/low caliber guns to deal with Chars or T34s is fun to me. Really brings perspective. Of course, you gotta bring the 88 flak. And as France or Soviets, you can do your best to steamroll before the Germans whittle you down
