Wow, breaking through the steely resolve, destroying it! Let us see if the Matildas and the southern Bofors will mop up the MG team or if it will survive as a witness to the battle:
That's an insane Bofors barrage, but good hiding from the MG team! Seems like the second Matilda got it though. Your assault phase, final chance for DAK glory
Indeed, thanks for a great game! There were some nerve wracking turns swinging both ways. As you kept the Fallschirmjäger in reserve, I didn't dare to move out several of my Matildas, because then you would be able to land him close to a mountain getting him in cover and destroy my back row (which, as seen, was quite important for me to be able to deal with your infantry). I was also terrified of your Nebelwerfer, but my back row removal was lucky enough to deal with it before it became critical.
Sure, I would love another game! Would you join me in trying out one of the pre-made scenarios that former users have made? Among others, I scavenged from the old forums a scenario made by the user zangetsu24 about the battle of Tali-Ihantala (part of the Continuation War in Finland, June 1944, the largest battle in history of the Nordic countries, there is a 2007 movie about it which I recommend called Tali-Ihantala 1944). He also made scenario's for three other Continuation War battles, and they seem quite thorough You can see and download the PDF here: www.dropbox.com/s/pne2ly3o0ggz77j/%231%20Tali%20Ihantala.pdf?dl=0
It's a bit larger and thus maybe more complicated than what we have done, and I have no idea how fair or balanced it is, but I think it would be interesting to try. If you don't fancy that particular scenario/setting or would rather like to play a normal game creating armies, that is also fine of course
Let’s do it! Do you know if there is a JPEG of the map anywhere? (I figured you would want to try a Nordic battle, Finland will have to do as WotC unfortunately did not get around to Norwegian units!)
Haha yup, that's true! I had a small hope for a Norwegian unit or two when the Early War set came along, but nothing there, so Finland will do! Yeah, I was able to combine three map JPEGS into one big JPEG of the map, which I can send you, but I have it one another computer that I'll get to on Monday (travelling this weekend), so we can wait until then What side do you want to play? I can be either.
E.g. the town of Ihantala would be hex L10. If it is a major quality of life improvement for you, I can add the coordinates to each hex (how it was in our last map)
