Just a modification of the rudder profile and a coat of paint for this one.
The gaps along the fuselage are terrible to try to fill; I need to try a different filler I think.
G'day Martin,
I was considering Bobby Gibbes' shark mouth Spit' but decided against it otherwise it just becomes a game of battling aces.
This one will be a 452 Sqn 'plain Jane' in foliage green.
QY-T flown by Des Cormack from Moratai in Dec 44.
I just have to work out which is the best Vallejo Model Air dark green to use for foliage green. Not convinced I have the colour I'm happy with yet
If I get another Mk IX spare I'll have a go at a 'shark mouth'. The change of the tail profile is a quick, easy conversion.
Just an undercoat re-application and undersurface grey for this update.
And this is the scheme for the Mk VIII
I finally worked out the correct equivalent to RAAF Foliage Green in the Model Air range and ducked out to a LHS to get a bottle a few days ago.
So armed with Vallejo Model Air 71 124 USAF Dark Green the base coat is on and now it's taped up ready for the white leading edges and red spinner.
I will put together a list of the repaints I've done and their applicable colours and post it up at some point soon Pendragon; something like this perhaps:
Aircraft - RAAF Spitfire Mk VIII conversion

Colour scheme
Base - RAAF Foliage Green (Vallejo Model Air 71 124 USAF Dark Green)
Cam colour one - Nil
Underside colour - Medium Sea Grey (Vallejo Model Air 71 103 Grey [RLM 84])
Well, I am still having trouble with white through the airbrush so had to back-mask to re-spray where the white bled through.
Also got the spinner done as well.

You've got the shape of that rudder just right, GV, great work!
Is this going to be a shark-nosed RAAF job?

GV, love your mods and repaints.
Will you develop a colour guide a la Weeds overview for W@S minis?
