I can see the hexes..a bit faint but visible. It might take me a few more minutes to count out moves & determine where I am at on the map but I can see the hex sides & coordinates. I can enlarge the map & zoom in so it won't be too difficult to figure it all out. I am guessing we enter on the road in our set up areas & proceed to go from there as desired..is this correct? Yellow highlighted hex is the objective I also am guessing. Since we do not have the Depression hexes, ignore that Special Rule?
On a break from yard work today & had a few minutes to look the scenario over. I see we enter play according to map set up rule #2 for the Americans & map set up rule #3 for the Germans. Broke out the rule book to look those up but could not find them in the rule book or on the scenario sheet. Am I missing something somewhere?
note #1 ALL UNITS BEGIN PLAY OFF MAP AND ENTER PLAY DURING THE PLAYERS MOVEMENT PHASE IN TURN 1. AT THE PLAYERS DISCRETION, THE UNITS MAY ENTER LATER THAN TURN 1.
note #2 ALLIED UNITS ENTER ALONG THE ROAD ON THE SOUTHERN EDGE OF THE MAP OF HOW 5, which is the lower left of yours
note #3 AXIS UNITS ENTER ALONG THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF MAP 6, upper left of yours
I didn't read this scenario carefully enough and realize its pretty big with the USA at 254 points. It will take forever to play out with so many units and such a large map. It also has a severe points imbalance at 203 points Vs 254 points. maybe we should stick to lower points games unless its some kind of a tank on tank thing.
Not a problem here my friend. Shall we do a few more 50 point infantry scuffles till we get fully comfortable with the system & whatnot? I have a bunch of those 50 point infantry builds I posted long ago on the Underground I'd enjoy test driving. Your call on this..I am happy to just be getting some gaming in however it may be. We can always revisit this particular scenario in the future.
As to the previous post, perhaps do 50 or so points of infantry & toss in a couple tanks..maybe some of builds like Captain John Miller used to do on the old forum...he called them "Vanilla 100 Point Builds"..about 50 or so points of infantry & a smattering of artillery & a couple tanks...pretty basic but were good learning builds & look like they would play fairly quickly as well. Maybe a 2 sheet map set up to give some range to things. Can you post any of the old 2" maps to use...I always liked them. They had some good range & interesting fields of fire.
Did you get to look at the album of maps for AAM Online Play? Some really nice ones there..now the big question...do you have a way & ability to upload them & make them work on here? I counted 21 maps there.
Axis Vs Allies 100 points, max 12 units Only 4 can be vehicles. Winner occupies objective alone in the casualty phase. We can call it our version of the Encirclement of Nancy and do USA Vs Germany.
How about use the original/Advanced rule on page 10 of the Advanced Rules of maximum of 15 units & only 3 vehicles? Just throwing stuff at the wall to see if it sticks... Are formations allowed?
The rule at our game table is that you have to play the scenario proposed even if you think its flawed or different than your version. When your turn comes to create the next scenario you will have a chance to re-create the scenario and fix the flaws if you wish. If you don't wish to create scenarios then you must accept what is proposed. Curt the official formations are ALWAYS welcome unless stated. Expanded rules will ALWAYS be used unless otherwise stated. NO custom cards unless both parties agree.
