OK, I know there is a Battle of Kolombangara in the World War Two in 20 Battles section, but I have been playing around with one that includes the entire OB. Kolombangara is small enough to include the entire OB, and I don't have a lot of carriers yet, so I picked a surface warfare-centric battle.
Situation: IJN running Tokyo Express down "the Slot" in the Solomons at night to avoid issues with air attacks; Americans incorrectly assume they have complete surprise after finding the Japanese ships on radar at 0100, but the Japanese have known the American ships were there since about 2300...;
Objective: IJN intends to land troops at Vila with their converted "troop destroyers;" Americans intend to prevent landings at Vila or Rice Anchorage, or any attack at RA
Rules: Night rules in effect, and Japan begins game with initiative. The game can be played on a standard sized game mat. I have dimensions for the terrain and starting locations for the ships, but I have not figured out yet how to post the scan I made of the map. It looks like I'll have to create my own website or sign up for some other entire photo hanging service in order to post it.
Japanese OB
CL: Jintsu
DD: Mikazuki (Nagatsuki); Yukikaze; Hamakaze (Hatsukaze/Yukikaze); Kiyonami (Takanami Card, Hatsukaze/Yukikaze/Isokaze Model); Yugure (Fubuki C, Hatsu./Yuki./Iso. M)
Troop DD: Satsuki (Nagatsuki); Minazuki (Nagatsuki); Yunagi (Harukaze C, Nagatsuki M); Matsukaze (Harukaze C, Nagatsuki M) (102 Pt Total)
American OB
MB/Vanguard
CL: Honolulu (Phoenix); St. Louis (Boise); HMNZS Leander
DD: Taylor; Nicholas, O'Bannon, Jenkins & Radford (All 4 represented by Fletcher)
Rear DDs:
Ralph Talbot (Phelps); Maury (Sterett); Gwin, Buchanan, & Woodworth (Gwin Card for all three; Use Fletcher/Taylor/Hoel/Kidd model) (114 Pt Total)
I have not game tested this yet, I will give a report after I have. If anyone else runs the scenario (or would like to post the starting position map) please let me know how it goes.
