Dreamed of somebody with money and vision buying the brand and IP out from We're On Total Crack and relaunching it, full reissues of every set with error/powercreep corrections along with new expansions, alongside Ground Game and A20--and getting RB and the band back together to run it.
About as likely as me winning the Powerball, though the latter would bring about the former.
I’m pulling for you.
I'd love to see it at least online. Being a player and learning developper on Board Game Arena, I wonder if we could set up a project about it. In don't know who owns the license nowdays, tho.
In the Sodbuster family game, Adm Caleb didn't deploy subs or BBs fast enough, so I'm picking them off. In the last couple of turns, Rodney was sunk, as were Victorious, Cossack, and Sackville. Repulse is significantly damaged. Chitose is, as well. My boy seems obsessed with knocking out the Chitose every game I use it. He does still have Repulse, Hood, and Prince of Wales for BBs. Still has Glorious and Royal Oak, four Truculents, Euryalus, and a solid air arm. So I'm not out of the woods yet. I have Yamato, Soryu, Shokaku, Haguro, Suzuya, Naka, four destroyers, I-19, and I-26. My air arm is weaker, with just two Kate sqns and one Val. I do have plenty of Zeros, though.
We tried something different and played a "3-way battle," every man for himself yesterday. Caleb played IJN, Kimberly played USN, and I played France. We played 150 points each. At first, the siblings blasted away at each other, and I thought I'd just come in and finish off their remains. Then Mushashi vitaled Richelieu on the first shot! In the end, it was a blood bath, with IJN walking away with just a Rufe sqn left. USN lost it's entire surface fleet but still had a sqn of Wildcats and one of Dauntlesses. France still had Algerie, Casabianca, Bearn, and a crippled Milan and Le Terrible.
Lost 2 out of 3 today but took the 200 pt game. Americans creamed my Japanese. Didn't have a carrier and faced a fully loaded Essex.
Then had the Germans defeat my Brits. Gneisenau vitaled my Sheffield and left the Glorious to suffer the same fate she had first time around.
My french handled the Italians in the last game. Algerie took out the crippled Caio Duilio while Richeleu vitaled the Roma and her escort in the same round. Game turned like that and it was a wipe.
I swear Roma gets vitaled more than any other ship in the game. I once started a 200 point game and had Roma vitaled on the first shot of the game at ER4. Granted it was the Rodney that did it but damn! I can't count how many times she disappears too soon.
basing the Soviet planes on Reacher's bases i got in about a week ago... Also basing the standard US mini's (larger than DD's) on their bases and soting out which other mni gets which MS-pattern
Just did a convoy battle scenario with the RN and the KM. The RN pulled off the win, but it was at heavy cost. It really is incredible to me how this game still manages to surprise even though I've played it for so long.
I'm currently working up a Dunkirk scenario of sorts. Giving cargo ships, some custom Passenger/Troopship models, and DDs designated troop-carrying capacity (1 unit for DDs, 3 for cargo ships, 4 for troopships/liners) and will have the fleet defend until X number of troops are embarked and transported across the map to 'England'.
Got some details to iron out to finalize, but it's going well so far!
I finally put all my loose minis in the right place. The days of opening boosters are likely past me, so I took the ones I’m selling and put them in the sell box, returned some to the “strategic reserve” full collections of French and UK minis I bought a few years ago, and catalogued and stowed the rest in my collection. I am up to 56 Sackvilles and 16 Intrepids now.
I purchased a base set pack off Facebook to have fun opening one last pack before I deploy. I don’t need any rates from the base set, so I’ll likely have one for sale/trade soon.
Inspired by this I prepped a little pack to take on my deployment. 300 points worth of USN, RN, MN, IJN, KM, and RM equipment for a 1941 engagement. I rolled dice to pit random opponents against each other as a test and my dauntless based US fleet (Enterprise and Hornet supported by Constellation and Washington plus cruisers and destroyers) obliterated a battleship based Italian fleet. Only the Washington and a Phelps took damage thanks to Edsall setting up a smoke screen while SBDs smashed at least one ship per turn. Turn one created an anticlimactic battle when the first SBD squadron destroyed the Littorio in a single 18 point (13 die) attack!
Currently labeling my collection. I’m tired of straining my eyes and holding the mini in just the right light to read it. Those damn planes and destroyers! Rather spend more time playing.
