The Germans before and during the war were working on this behemoth Battleship. Unfortnaly the loss of WW1 and the follwing treaty risctions and political unstability made the completion of these ships impossible. But W@s is not reality so lets have some fun.
Im thinking for in game comparisons the Nagato and West Virgina would feel very similer to the L20 class. Some plans suggested 8 16.5 inch guns similer to Nagato. So maybe a 16 16 15 14 Gun line? Probably just ER4. Im open to Any ideas though.
They also had a design for 8 15 inch guns similer to those on her Predecessor The Bayern class. In game this would probally be similer to bismark but wores at range. I would have to do more research.
Any ideas though? en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/L_20e_α-class_battleship
40,000+ tons is big for a late WWI era unit. Hood-like in size. Shorter and and slightly greater beam, but in the same neighborhood displacement wise.
I believe Brigs has done some other German "what-ifs" from the late WWI/1920s period. They might serve to guide on refining stats for this one. Maybe a 8/14/5 BB with guns in the same ballpark as WeeVee or Nagato (assuming 16.5in gun version). Would need to see how the armor stacks up compared to a few other ships (I'm assuming a bit lighter than Bismarck but not less than Hood, but I haven't looked hard at it)
Yorck: 300mm Belt, 30-80mm Deck L20: 300-350mm Belt, 60mm Deck (oddly, the descriptions I found included 120mm aft, but not amidships) Bismarck: 320mm Belt, 50mm+100mm Decks
I think we may be looking at something a lot like Yorck, with a heavier main battery. It did have a 60mm torpedo bulkhead (Nagato and WeeVee had 75mm), so maybe Torpedo Defense.
Guns should probably match Freddie the Fat at 16/16/15/14 and ER4.
Pretty potent overall. In a lot of ways, this looks like a German in-game equivalent of the USN's Washington class and would likely come in at a cost in the mid 50s. It would represent an interesting alternative to Bismarck with slightly weaker protection, but better gunnery.
