Yes it is our right to vote for who we want. The candidate has an obligation to be qualified for the job, they are YOUR VOICE in government. They represent you & your wishes for government. They are a reflection of us, they speak for us. Does Ms. Omar speak for you with what she says?

Trump was elected by the American political process. Nothing illegal or illegitimate about...unless you are Hillary Clinton & still in denial. He may be a poor excuse of a human being but that applies to all politicians. What she said was shown on several news networks, in her own words...nothing partisan there, unless it was MSNBC/CNN or some other partisan network. Mr. Juggernaut, you might want to review your high achool civics & see how the system works. The Electoral College, not the popular vote. If it was popular vote, majority rule, 3-4 states would dictate the outcome...the Founding Fathers foresaw this & made sure it would hopefully not be Mob Rule. If you are in another country, then deal with your own political situations, we will deal with ours.

So was she, she was voted in by her district. Minnesota has 8 of them she won the 5th district with the majority of votes. To be fair I would have voted for her if I lived in the 5th, alas I do not. The electoral college is an antiquated system that needs changing. It might have worked in bygone days, but now. And yeah you might have been right if you were talking about the original Electoral College, where the person receiving the most votes was elected President and the 2nd highest votes became Vice-President. That plan sounds a lot better than the one we use after the 12th Amendment, what is to stop an elector from voting against what their state has voted, it's an honor system and no real penalties after all. Plus it seems to give swing states more power than they should have. Basically the only pro I see is it makes it easier for candidates to campaign.
And so what if people from another country have ideas to throw into the discussion about our political situations. Last I checked this a multi-national board for the game of Axis & Allies Miniatures and their different variations. If you can't deal with that, I don't know what to say. By the way JuggernautJ is in the US.
The Electoral College works as intended. Your mention of it needing to be abolished would create Voter Suppression on a massive scale. Only high population areas would dictate the outcome of elections. Fully 3/4 of the country would lose their voice in elections by allowing only the high population states to control the results. You believe in voter suppression by your reasoning. Is that your belief? When Democrats win the Presidential election, it is the greatest thing since sliced bread. When they lose, it is outdated & must go. The Electoral College works AS INTENDED. It prevents mob rule & prevents voter supression.
To condone what Ms. Omar espouses in her own words is, IMO, to also condone terrorism. It reduces the 9/11 terror attacks almost to the level of nothing more than a "College Prank", or so it would appear. Her Anti-Semetic views are reprehensable. That you wish you could have voted for her is sad. It reflects on you rather poorly IMO.
So to sum up: You support voter supression. Terrorism is an acceptable form of protest. 9/11 was nothing more than an "Incident", Some people did Something...her own words! You believe in mob rule, the masses shall dictate to all others. It is Your Way or No Way. Are these your beliefs?

Coming from you that doesn't real mean much, but thanks for your concern. I know what I stand for and you can imply anything you might want from I have said but still doesn't change who or what I am. Have yourself a pleasant Easter.
A thinly veiled insult is still an insult but I will consider the source. I do not need to imply anything. You are who & what you are & you stand for.what you stand for...your own words. You made it quite clear who & what you are & what you stand for by your remarks. Enjoy your Easter as well.

Quote in question:
“For far too long we have lived with the discomfort of being a second-class citizen and, frankly, I’m tired of it, and every single Muslim in this country should be tired of it,” she said in the March 23 speech, according to video posted online. “CAIR was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties.”
Jeepers - It shouldn't be hard to all agree the 9/11 hijackers don't represent all muslims anymore then all Japanese are responsible for Pearl Harbor, all Christians for the Inquisition or insert any other group and tragic event. Pretty sure that's all she was saying, in that part of the quote anyways, and I don't find it insensitive at all (my immediate family even includes 9/11 firefighters.)
What I find really weird/ironic is that she says CAIR was founded after 9/11 but info found online says it was formed in 1994. You'd think somebody would fact check some stuff like that...
Ilhan Omar Update: An Alleged sham marriage to her brother. Interesting. Alleged Tax Fraud involving another man who is the father of her children. Very Interesting. Her comments were to accuse everyone of racism. A real Class act she is. Not!
Ilhan Omar Update: 1/16/2020 She is now being investigated by the FBI for alleged Perjury, Immigration Fraud, Tax Fraud, Student Loan Fraud & Bigamy. Yes, she is certainly qualified to be a Congress Critter & those who elected her should be so Proud of her.
