I’ve been looking for more Guards Infantry and Siberian Shock Troops to flesh out my Russian options, and noticed that 2 Chinese sellers (using the same photos) are selling just 10 Guards Infantry pieces for maybe 6 dollars. Seems to be several lots as well. I wanted at least one, but I’m not sure I trust it. The description says 10 randomly selected units, while the title specifies 10pc of #19 Counter-Offensive (or something to that effect). Anyone ever buy from maxtoyshops on eBay?
I have bought some items from the Chinese sellers, but it was a few years ago. No cards, of course. The sculpts were OK; took weeks for them to get to me.
Those who don't remember their history are bound to do something or other...
I wouldn’t hesitate to buy from them. They have a percentage high rating and deal in volume with their numerous sales. I have bought from Hong Kong sellers like this before and have been happy, just know what you are buying. It’s not product that the company meant to be sold or distributed, and some people don’t like that about these sellers. It is hard to turn down so much product at an affordable price though.
Pay attention to the shipping times; sometimes it’s six weeks from order to delivery depending on stuff.
Like they were mis-molded or didn’t meet standards?
If you like the pictures then you will probably like the product. I have gotten several War at Sea ships of all sizes from sellers like this and the product was indistinguishable. This would be a lot smaller piece where the detail is even less of a factor.

I picked up a lot or two of the stuff from China in the past and the condition varied considerablly. I got a lot of ten of the coveted WaS Condors that were horribly disfigured and a lot of 75mm Stugs that had horrible gloopy paint jobs. On the other hand I have got other lots that were near perfect. To me it all comes down to price and shipping costs compared to buying the stuff on the singles market. You got to weigh it out for yourself and go from there.
PS - it will take close to two months for delivery from China as they are shipped via shipping container mail.
co1191, A nice unit for the Russians is the Vet. NCO, good Commander, and I see Stalker6 has 1 in his For Sale list. Some other decent units also. Worth looking into, I've had some good luck with the NCO & Guards infantry combo. Costs 6 points, one more than a Commissar but the "Fearless" SA can be handy. The Russians can be a fun army to play, hope you can use them to good effect on the Invaders from the West....
Ober, I’ve had some rough luck with gloopy paint jobs on the NA set Stug III’s just in singles market, let alone factory rejects. Have some of these B-grade minis ended up,in the singles market? And sorry to hear about your Kondors. Did anyone else have gloopy paint jobs on the panzer III N commander? I got one that was painted pretty lame once.. anyway, I went ahead and ordered the Guards Infantry set! They make good targets, curtm1911 . I’d play russians once in awhile if my pals would let me, it I usually end up being the other bad guys to the west
My usual gaming friends always want to be Germany so I have gotten pretty good with the Allies....I think I can count the number of times playing the Axis on one hand & have fingers left over.....it is always a learning experience for me too....

The NA Stugs were the ones I got from the Chinese vendors and I don't think the ones in the boosters were much better. As far as the Condors go, I straightened them out in hot water as best i could and used them for gaming. I needed them for the 'Condors over Dakota' build. Good luck with the Guards Infantry, at worst you might have to learn to paint.
Just an update that the Guards Infantry guys and 1 Siberian shock troop were just fine. I couldn’t pick em out from the other ones I had. I’m happy with it all!
