I've been reading more about FUD on the Shapeways' forums. It sounds like many use an air eraser to smooth out the rough material you get on the verticals (especially on the hull at the bow).
Baking soda is recommended by some, but it isn't recyclable in a blast cabinet, for example.
Anyway, shout out here if you've used an air eraser on your minis before.
Hap, if you check out this forum page, you'll see what I mean: Shapeways Forum
For my purposes, here's an image of Indianapolis in FUD:
The places I've put the red arrows are always rough. The green arrow is a place that is always smooth.
The purpose of the air eraser is to use something like baking soda to gently "sand" off the rough area and make it smooth.
Motivated by you and weeds, I've been thinking about an airbrush for a long time. When I was reading up on FUD, I found the above link to the forum and realized lots of people get rough spots on their FUD models.
I found quite a few folks who felt like this Harbor Freight air eraser did a nice job, but most require more PSI than a hobby compressor. Thus, I'm looking at this fellow for a compressor: California Quiet
Anyway, just wondering if anyone here had done anything with an air eraser.
