We had a great time playing WaS at Origins again this year. We had three round tournaments on Thurs, Fri, and Saturday evening. A large-fleet team events on Friday afternoon and another on Saturday morning. We played as usual at the Axis & Allies gaming area run by Greg Smorey who manages the events for WotC/Avalon Hill. He has always been great at supporting us to keep WaS "alive and kicking."
We had several Forumini members stop by to say hi, but who didn't play. Next time bring your WaS stuff and play in at least one game with us guys!
Here are a couple of photos of the players this year. Note the real Stewart tank in the background! Avalon Hill/WotC had it brought to the Convention Hall to promote their upcoming new Axis & Allies boardgame "Axis & Allies - Zombies." (Note the game is actually pretty cool.)

No, but he gave us awesome Avalon Hill board game prizes at the end of the tournament. Dracos42 only watched on Thursday night as well. (His car broke down and he didn't have all his stuff.) But he and I played a pick-up game the next day.

The Royal Ontario Regiment has a tank museum attached to its headquarters. They've got a Stuart there, with riveted seams.
The tour guide said they moved away from rivets because even if the armor deflected enemy shells, the rivet heads had a tendency to explode inside the tank.
Btw a Stuart had a 4 man crew. Imagine cramming 4 people in there

It was good to meet other WAS players in person, and to put faces to the screen names here. Weeds does look like he is a retired plant scientist. He also sank my Yorktown in turn 1 of our game. A carrier-hunting Kate boosted by Shokaku and Chikuma. I did enjoy the game, a 200 point red vs. blue fight.
I'll probably go back to Origins next year. Hopefully with nothing going wrong.
