The Kii BB was part of the IJN 8-8 plan[ pre Washington Treaty] being similar to the Amagi Class but with better armor.
What i've read 2 were named Kii and Owari designed by Yuzuru Nigara;; 10 41 centimeter guns and a full tonnage of around 48000lb. Well armored 830ft long and a beam of 35ft and fast despite the weight That's pretty close to the Alsace
I would hate to see another 6 pt. hull in the game or a misrepresented BB just because some think we need another Fantasy unit. plenty of ways to add real IJN BB's to game
To be fair, Tosa and Amagi were also laid down. Tosa was even launched. And of course their sisters, Kaga and Akagi, were also laid down, but completed as carriers, due to the treaty.
The Kii class from the 1920s would have displaced 42,600 tons (normal). That's at the high end of the Hull 5 range I believe. Bismark was 41,700 tons. Iowa was 48,110 tons; and of course Yamato was over 69,000 tons.
Alsace as we have it was a design variant selected to exceed the 48000t threshold

Thats just the thing i'm talking about;
When you go to Wiki the "Full Load" of Alsace is 45000 while Kii is 48000 (the Kii I reference is as i stated the Niagara pre Washington Treaty)
So i guess its really what source you use to get accurate information; or with fantasy as close as you can get;
I know a lot of designers here must use a certain site or book, most i've read do vary a bit; Conway's tends to be a little high,
if you know the source love to view it or buy it;;; Thanks
My understanding is that there were multiple designs prepared and the one chosen was of adequete tonnage for hull 6. Not a lesser value fudged upwards.

Heavygear would likely have those details.
Did find a site; The French Navy considered 3;;; N1 N2 N3
N3 was 45,000 long tons = 50,000 tons; Guess the Team went with that
Although the Kii at 42,000 long tons is 47000 tons;; ball park
Good thing they did because the French Admiralty said no Oui Thanks again
