This is a custom card being designed for my Strike North Campaign Scenario which I will be GMing during the upcoming MaizeCon in Waterloo, IA happening in October 2018. There are plenty of card designs already out there by such esteemed individuals as Sharpe, Thor711 and ObstbfEgon. I'm using them as starting points for my own versions. Some have been left entirely intact and others I have modified to my own purposes.
When I started the unit card creation process back a few months ago, I considered to do this one but opted to pass. Mostly because there were few battles that they participated in. As I read through more of the history of the German invasion of 1940 I realized though few in number, the Royal Guards did play a key role in some battles. So to correct this oversight I'm designing a unit card for them. Their one unique special ability, Alt for Kongen!, comes from their unit motto which translates to Everything for the King. It's loosely based on the SA called Surprise Fire, but I wanted to make it a little better by allowing it to be used from any hex that has cover.
They successfully delayed a German attempt to capture the king, his family and the Norwegian cabinet at the battle of Midtskogen (Sometimes called Spiller's raid). After finding some good info on this battle I decided to recreate it with a scenario and map. To do this correctly, I need this unit.
Looking for feedback. What do you think? Is it balanced in terms of cost? Any concerns or questions?
