RH, the convoy rules as written set the convoy ship stats. You dont get to pick ships under the letter of the law.
The two in the new deck both have a close escort ability with other auxilaries. Because they are so weak, its hard to see what else you could reasonably to do with others, because the core stats are so low. Thats not to say we couldnt do something unreasonable, but are we that desperate?
Auxilaries that are functional in standard games are where we ought to focus. fighter director ship might be a thing i guess. As its possible to do similar red/blue versions (togo(or kreta)/palomeres)
A depot ship might also work, if it let you reroll stuff like jammed mount or defective torpedoes.
USA/USSR - USCGC Staten Island (WAGB-278) or USCGC Eastwind (WAGB-279)- US Wind Class armed icebreakers - operated by US Navy, USCG and also some of the class were lent to USSR under the lend lease program.
What about the 3rd Prince class Aux Cruiser? Perhaps Prince Robert with the late-war AA Escort role. The Prince David we got early on in the Team decks is badly overcosted.
From a general point of view, I'd like to see : -fleet auxiliaries (minesweepers, oilers) -second role ships (Q-ship, armed merchants, aux cruisers) -assault ships (in addition to existing LST, there were various types used, like LCVP)
An idea popped to mind the other day that we should make some auxiliaries with passive SAs that generate victory points, very much along the same line as Queen Mary. A bunch of these may make them more appealing to take during a match
To you from failing hands we throw the torch be yours to hold it high. -In Flanders Fields. John McCrea
In my experience I have seen only a very few cases where a close game was determined by SA victory points. Victory points are earned in chunks of 50, 100 or more depending on the fleet build size (Objectives and fleet bonus.) Getting a few VCs from an SA rarely makes a difference.

Well my RCN vote would be for HMCS Prince Robert in her AA configuration, she is the most unique of the Prince class ships. We made a card on the old site years back for her and I play tested it extensively (every battle) and it was great.
