This is a custom card designed for my Strike North Campaign Scenario which I will be GMing during the upcoming MaizeCon in Waterloo, IA happening in October 2018. There are plenty of card designs already out there by such esteemed individuals as Sharpe, Thor711 and ObstbfEgon. I used them as starting points for my own versions. Some have been left entirely intact and others I have modified to my own purposes.
Looking for feedback. What do you think? Is it balanced in terms of cost? Any concerns or questions?
This German card was previously designed for my Crete / Pyrrhic Victory scenario. It has been updated for use in Strike North.
The Flavor text has been changed. Mountaineering SA altered so that it is the same as other unit cards in this set. Ski Capable SA added.
Disciplined - While this unit has cover it gets +1/+1 defense. Close Assault 6 -This unit has an attack value of 6 against Vehicles in its hex. This attack ignores cover. Mountaineering - This unit gets +1 on movement rolls. Ski Capable - In your movement phase, this unit gets +1 speed if the first hex it enters is a snow hex. A successful movement roll is required. (SA reworded)
The 139th Mountain Regiment fought at Narvik from April to June 1940. In May elements of 137th Regiment reinforced them by air after receiving some quick parachute training. Gebirgsjagers wore a distinctive Edelweiss emblem on their cap and shoulders.
Recently I compared my French Chasseurs Alpins card to the German Gebirgsjager and realized they are basically the same card except for the German card having a 7 for its' medium range anti soldier stat. So either this unit is under costed by one point or the French Chasseurs Alpins card is over costed by one point. What do you think? Should I increase the cost of the German card by one or lower the French card by one point? I'm leaning towards increasing the German card by one.
Here is a link to the French unit card so you can compare the two.
