Well hope everyone had a better holiday than I did... "She Who Must Be Obeyed" aka SWMBO pronounced Swimbo aka the loving wife of 46 years fell down 12/22 and broke her left hip. She had just finished rehab on a total right knee replacement. She spend Dec 22 thru 26 in our local naval hospital... Surgery on 12/23 for a total left hip replacement... Brought her home on the evening the 26th... No war-gaming for the for see able future until I get her up and walking again... Cheers.
Their ship their coffin The cruel dark sea their grave.
The SWMBO fell again this last January and this time she broke he back (T12)and now has steel rods from T9 to L2 and is learning to walk again. Currently in a rehab facility 3 miles from home. Really tough when you get old.

Sorry to hear as the total knee replacement is painful enough as I can see with my wife just recovering from her second. "She Who Must Be Obeyed" aka SWMBO is interesting as here it’s is 32 years of HSIT “Husband still in training”. But from family members and friends who have had both all seem to say the hip replacement is a less onerous recovery.

I broke my T12 about 20 years ago, know how much it hurts.
Doctors wanted to do an operation that would probably put me in a wheelchair, I told them that when I was in a wheelchair then they could do the operation.
I don't see myself as being old but my body is starting to tell me otherwise :-(
Stay positive and try to keep her from over doing it :-)
After 86 very long painful frustrating slow days, my SWMBO is finally coming home. She spent 15 days in the local Naval Hospital recovering from a left hip replacement surgery after breaking her hip and then corrective back surgery for a broken T-12 vertebrae and then 71 days in a rehab facility undergoing Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy sessions several hours a day 6 days a week. It has been a long haul and my SWMBO truly hated not being home with our cats. She will still need additional therapy but that will be as an outpatient.
Now I can devote a little time to writing and perhaps some war-gaming; cheers and have a pint on my tab.
I brought the SWMBO home yesterday!!! Been a long haul but she is now up and walking and glad to be home after four long months... Now it is back to life as normal... Thanks guys....
