With many paint schemes for the B and M versions of the Yak 1, I figured it should be a quick modification and then a repaint in something a bit more interesting.
So after a bit of cut - file - sand it's ready for paint
Undercoat primer applied, second 12.7mm port closed over and the undersurface blue applied.
Have settled on this design for the repaint.
Maybe Toyama could do a card for this pilot? Somehow I don't think I'll be painting the eagle insignia; may be just a little small and intricate for my painting skills

It's hard to find a nice dynamic drawing of this specific Yak-1b and even harder to find any info about the pilot. Whaddayathink?
What do I think? Excellent Toyama. The speed at which you produce cards astounds me.
Thank you, this one is great (just like all the others by the way.....)
With the Boomerang just about finished and the Spitfires stalled due to decal issues, the Yak is next in line. A quick shot of light grey over the nose to check the puttywork on the starboard 12.7mm port and undercoat for the red.
On the weekend I got the red nose painted and masked, and the green base done. Masking for the black is on and paint on later tonight.
Instead of a straight black I thought black-grey might take the edge off. It looks a little charcoal but I think gives a slightly worn / weathered appearance. The final matt coat will prove the theory right or wrong.
Black on.......
And masking off.......
Just the usual paint tidy up, clear coats and decals to go
And I'm done with this one also. Although I claimed I wouldn't try the eagle motif, as with the Boomerang, I've roughly outlined the slogans, victory markings and eagle motif. Very small in this scale so I'm fairly happy with the end result.
