I just finished some inventory control. That is, I wrote down all the cards I have. I'll have to reconcile them with the actual minis at another time. Based on that review, it appears that I have acquired multiples of some cards that are far and away in excess of anything I would never need on the game table.
Full disclosure: I'm a Canuck, so having 31 Canadian Infantrymen does not seem to me to be excessive. But there are others:
Concealed Forward Observers x13: Really? What game would have 13 of these crouching around the table? Vickers Machinegun Team x14: That's 112 points! That would be a mega-points game! Until recently, I had 13 Red Devil Captains. Surely, I should have stopped at five.
So, 'fess up. How many copies of one mini have you accumulated, through purchase or trade, that you still keep in inventory, knowing you will never use them all?

I think I currently have over 30 US Bazookas if you count my tradelist and extras pile. These seem to show up by the handful with every deal I make and they are almost impossible to get rid of in any quantity.
Ive got close to 50 Canadian Infantry, never can have too much fodder. lol Don't feel bad Stalker I must have just as many 6 pounders as you have Bazookas. Most of my extras were sold off in eBay lots a long time ago.

I have a surplus of Bazookas, RDC's, M2 mortars for my Americans, not sure how the bazookas & RDC's got to be so many, I did collect the mortars but they get spread through my Western Allies evenly as possible. The Russians have a few extra PTRD ATR's.
The Axis has a few more Brixia mortars than needed. They generally stay in the box & my Italians use the German light mortar. I do like the Romanian light mortar for my Germans & those see a good amount of table time.
I agree that you can't have enough infantry, I add squads when I see them listed. I also add vehicles as they become available & my budget allows.
All but 1 of the......mumble mumble..... 15 6 pdr.s I have are repainted, 6x OD Green on green bases, 6x desert painted & 2 green gun on tan ground...I'll keep the lone original to a reminder of how they were.
Here are my worst cases of hoarding. Or is intent needed to hoard? I intentionally bought the first 3 Type 89 Mortar when I first decided to collect Japan. The rest of these all came from EBAY lots or from being stored in the same boxes until I moved out those female fanatical snipers. I don't think I've ever been able to trade any of these.
Imperial Sniper 19 Type 89 Mortar 25 AT Grenadier 48 Red Army Forward Observer 14 Fanatical Sniper 17 PTRD-41 AT Rifle 15 ZIS-2 57mm Model 1943 28 Entrenched AT Gun 31
With my recent intake of Plasticrack....mmmmmmmm...plasticrack fix...lol....I had to adjust my storage. 9 Base Set Humbers is enough, 3 of the new ones but those things are....large. On 3" hex maps ok....on 2" maps, kinda glad I have some v1 stuff that sees use.

Are we hoarding or just that hooked...
I prefer the three-inch hex maps, but the two-inch hex Combat Zone maps (which include the snow maps I use for the Winter War) are very handy.

If you actually use the miniatures and play the game you can be classified as an "avid fan" of the game and a collector.
If you don't play the game and you are collecting a set of the miniatures and cards, then you're a collector.
If you don't play the game and find yourself with hundreds of miniatures with duplicates numbering in the double digits, than yeah, sorry to say but you're a hoarder.
But in any of the cases above... if you're happy there ain't nothing wrong with it!
i have a very large collection and many units number 30+. My justification is that I play, collect and design large multi-player scenarios that can require big numbers of infantry or armour. My last huge collection purchase may be my last since I didn't even sort it completely yet and have been expanding my Bolt Action collection too.
