I remember house rules from way back for refined submarine rules which included surface attack/ movements etc. It played well from what I remember but obviously added more time/detail to proceedings.
O'kane's memoir is well worth a read if you haven't already. The last attack, sinking and escape is high drama!
There were some similar submerged escapes in other theater's. Off the top of my head, I think HMS Perseus' sole survivor in the med and part of the crew of HMS Umpire. Though this latter was accidentally rammed by friendly forces during transit.
"That's right son, join the navy. Get behind a bloody big gun and knock the hell out of somebody"
"We went out, got our arses kicked, then came back again"
Submarine corsair on Surcouf effectively allows her to ignore ASW threat, you could give Tang something similar, with a downside making making her attackable by Gunnery Attacks next turn, or by granting an extra ASW die to attacks made against her

I think you mean Risky Attack - Once per game, you can declare you're using Risky Attack during the Submarine Attack phase. If you do, this unit rolls one extra attack die when making Torpedo attacks this turn, and until the end of the next turn, this unit gets -1 armor.
If you’re wondering how that works in game, usually you wait until you can’t be attacked next turn and then do the +1. It’s not a luxury SA like Torpedo Swarm fur sure.

Still, I absolutely hate it and a hard no for me for this unit...
TORPEDO SWARM: Whenever this unit makes a Torpedo attack, it may make an additional 1-die Torpedo attack against all other enemy Ships in the same sector.
