The Royal Navy standardised aircraft naming with the United States navy. Which the Tarpon renamed to Avenger as the aircraft began to see frontline service on British carriers. Used in support of raids against the Tirpitz in norway and Far East. Fleet Air Arm Avengers launched the longest ranged strike by that force of the war to attack the heavy cruiser Haguro on may 14 1945. Damaging the cruiser for loss of 1 aircraft. Allowing Allied destroyers to corner and destroy the cruiser tje next night. Hagaro was the last major japanese loss outside home waters.
