During the testing of the Graf Zepplin, the Bf-109 fighters used by the carrier were found to be too unstable due to the narrow undercarriage on the Bf-109, and the Germans produced a naval version of the 109 to fix this. However, it is probable (in my opinion, at least) that if the Germans had completed the Graf Zepplin and made it operational, they would have made a naval version of the more advanced Fw-190. So that's what I did here!
Fw-190 T (the naval version of the 109 had the T suffix)
1941 year rating. 11 points
AA-8/-/-/- Gunnery-3/-/-/-
A-7 VA-9 HP-1 Advanced Fighter, Interceptor
What do you guys think? My main question is if it should be worth 10 points, as its similar to the Hellcat, or if 11 is the right call as Germany is primarily a land based air power. Thanks!
Would it be better to make it a ten, or give it escort and keep it at eleven. Also, does this mean that the ability to base on a carrier is only worth one point, or is the original Fw-190 overpriced?
I think keeping 190 as an interceptor is the right flavor. Carrier basing is not always going to cost a point; if you look at Wildcat vs. P-40 it’s more like 2 points. But with the top aircraft there is compression because they have high reward in that you can shoot down planes but high risk because they only come out every other turn.
Also look at Corsair. 10 points on land, could it cost 12 as a fighter on a carrier? Maybe, but you may as well pay 14 at that point and gain the flexibility to bomb. SWO has one that’s 12 in U.K. livery.
I guess 10 is aggressive and 11 is conservative. Don’t let cost determine what SAs you want it to have.

The main reason that I wanted it at 11 with its abilities is that I think that Germany should have to pay a bit more for a very good fighter than the US to represent that Germany wan't a carrier power. I think I'll keep it at 11
Coming in a little late here gents. I agree with MNN, this looks like a 10 to me based on the game stats. Interceptor is highly over-rated SA that very rarely triggers (at this point in the game, you almost never see bombers operating without escorts), and in my opinion the Fw-190 is overcosted at 9 points (it should probably be 8, and I think that extra point is a tax applied for RB to compensate for the early year in service date of a 8 AA fighter). Further, given the 7 point, carrier-capable Bf109 we already have, I don't think I'd often spend 3 more points to get 1 more AA.
I'd recommend a year in Service later than 1941 for a notional Fw190T. Graf Zeppelin has an in-game Year in Service date of 1941. Historically, the Bf109T wasn't considered for replacement until 1942 when the original Me155 design was developed (design wasn't complete until late 1942 - fighters wouldn't have actually been produced until 1943 at best). The Fw190A itself didn't enter service until 1941, and the Fw190A3/G3 designed by the teams has a date of 1942. While the German's didn't go that way, I think a notional Fw190 variant would have been a natural competitor for the Me155. It seems to me a notional Fw190T would have required a fair amount of additional design work and retooling, and a 1941 in service date seems too "aggressive".
