My visit to the Yamato Museum in Kure, Japan

So, I visited the Yamato Museum on January 2 in Kure, Japan for an hour or so. We stopped through Kure on the way back from Hiroshima to Tokyo by bullet train.
So here is the typical shot of a visitor next to the 1/10th scale Yamato model that is at the center of the museum. I have seen this kind of photo many times and I was of the impression that the model was about 15 to 20 feet long.
No so. The model is HUGE! It is the size of a WWII minesweeper. Here is a better perspective shot.
Pretty awesome. The museum should really be called the "Museum of the Imperial Japanese Navy" because it covers the entire history of the IJN from its inception at the start of the Meiji Restoration in 1868 until the end of WWII. But I am sure it is politically safer to call it the "Yamato Museum." The museum for the JMSDF is next door (and smaller). Anyway, for a modeler and WWII history buff this is a very nice museum. The Yamato model is in the center of the building, and the walkway spirals up and around it with secondary room exhibits.
