Lately I've been watching a lot of flat earth videos on UTUBE. They do put up a lot of evidentiary videos and lately have brought out the big guns, i.e. scientists, proving scientifically that the sun isn't a gas body.
I'm curious about how many members are flat earthers?
It's an entertaining read and fun for getting people riled up if you take some of the arguments and talk to people that are not scientifically inclined. It's makes for a great conspiracy theory like man has never actually been to the moon, Roswell, who actually shot JFK, etc...
And no... I do not believe that the Earth is flat, I only pretend to on TV.
I've watched/researched more videos than I'm prepared to admit.
Apparently there are about 50 million people in America who believe the Earth is flat and the number of people in the UK who believe this is expanding dramatically. The movement is becoming more professional and producing more "believable" videos to counter the anti-flat earth efforts. The Flat Earth movement its gaining a lot of traction in religious organisations. If the trend continues the risk that we are possibly facing another dark age will grow over time.
I like to think that I have an open mind and like to always listen to both sides of an argument so that I have a complete picture of the subject.....or at least so that I have a good grasp of the other sides argument to be able to counter it with good counter arguments.
One thing I've become aware of is that there are a lot fewer Flat Earthers in the southern hemisphere. Maybe because we see things from a totally different perspective? We can't see Polaris the pole star but we can see the Southern Polar axis. We see the constellations upside-down and a whole lot of constellations the Northern hemisphere can't see while not being able to see many constellations the north sees.. The Northern hemisphere observes the stars circling the pole star in an anticlockwise direction and yet we in the south see the stars circle the south pole axis in a clockwise direction.
After all the my research I'm considering starting up a FaceBook group called The Southern Hemisphere Flat Earth Believers Group. Our aim will be to debunk the northern hemisphere flat earthers model with undeniable evidence that the souther hemisphere flat earth is the true reality.
50 million in America believe this!?!?! I would have to respectfully challenge that poll. I have never met anyone who remotely believes that the earth is flat. I have frequently been mistaken before, but I am pretty sure I am on the correct side of this "argument"
I remember there a few months ago a Flat Earth convention was happening for one day in the city. Me and a few friends thought of attending as a joke/troll. But hen we saw the ticket price ($80) and changed our minds. Straight up scam.
