They weren't even hard to come by. The IS2 Model 1944 was the trickiest one to get a hold of. It took weeks to finally find one available in the entire world. Found it on miniaturetrading.com which is a cool website

I started collecting in December of 2009. I had everything collected by the time Condition Zebra was released, so a case and a few singles each after CZ, Set V and Surface Action completed my collection.
Strasbourg was the last W@S unit I needed

I guess the last unit I was missing from my collection was Yukikaze. I had one but then someone made me a trade offer I couldn’t refuse and I mailed it away. It was a few months before I got one back from some online source, probably ebay for a dollar or so. I don’t remember which piece from SA was the last one I needed. That point in my life was a good one from a collecting standpoint, I probably bought more Surface Action boosters at the onset than I did at the same time in any other release. And then I bought more pretty much every time I saw them in a store.
I don’t have anything close to a complete set for AAM, and my Angels 20 has a couple of holes still. Congratulations on the accomplishment!
You should try TANKS by Gale Force 9. It's 1/100 so you can use the V2 minis. It's supposed to be quick and easy. It's basically WW2 X-Wing. For a basic game you can even get the stat cards from the website. I have a play group in Port Huron that meets every month. At first I thought I'd use my AAM pieces but as you said, plasticrack is dangerous. I now have full platoons of all the releases.
