Actually, if I thought I was going to face a fleet with 262s in it, I'd think about sending the Carrier Corsair (or 4 of them) out to shoot it down before putting attack aircraft in harm's way.

I would personnaly be sending battleships and submarines, against which it is completely useless
Of course that would be the way to go, but if you played distance rules or a game otherwise tilted toward air you can still bring a strike group to bear.
Perhaps the solution is to try to find a way to expand the game into other eras, such a dreadnought, pre-dreadnought, and with some finagling, modern?
Thing is, this is a WW2 game. Not saying that older ships couldn't be adapted, but I feel they have as much right to be in the game as Korean War era ships.
The WW1 ships that were upgraded and viable are already in the game. The ones that weren't were scrapped, historically

Right, I'm just saying in the context of re-purposing the rules, not trying to incorporate a Nimitz class carrier or a Kirov class battlecruiser in with the current WWII units.
Folks have tried making a ww1 game and a Korean war era game using this system. Don't think there was much support at the time but it never hurts to try again

I think the system can be played around with to accommodate certain things. Technology may have changed but missiles still perform the same function shells once did: they travel to the target and try to hit it.
